Sometimes disputes can occur when landlords and commercial tenants don’t have a formal agreement in place. If you Can’t afford commercial rent, you might like to start with a discussion with landlord. Be honest about your financial position and consider sharing any relevant financial records. Try to keep your communication professional and polite, appealing for their help rather than making demands. Every business is different , but in general you could look at your spending and see if there are any cash you could reduce. You can try asking for a rent reduction e.g. 50% reduction for a for a fixed period. If this cannot be agreed, then try asking for a moratorium for say 3-6 months until a later period.
