A few years ago Nick returned from a year in Iraq to a struggling pharmaceutical industry and Valerie was adjusting to the effects of thyroid cancer treatment.  We took a long look at our situation and made a huge leap of faith into something we’d always wanted to do–real estate!  It wasn’t a blind leap; together we had a great combination of skills, education, experience, and a hard work ethic.  Many people thought we were crazy, but there is risk inherent in every job and the benefits were great–we’d be doing something we loved, meeting & helping people, working from home, and more time with our family.
Agents must affiliate with a brokerage, so we chose John Farrell of Zion Properties for his personable, casual, professional style. Â We loved the local business (who wants to pay for national chain advertising?) and the opportunity to run our own business, set our own commissions, and find our own clients. Â This year we’ve helped buy, sell, or build 19 homes and/or lots, plus 5 more are under contract to close in January! Our favorite part of the business (besides showing houses) has been meeting many people that we otherwise might never have known.
